Project Details

Description

City of Edinburgh Council’s Young People’s Participation Team supports young people to identify research topics, carry out pieces of action research about these topics and communicate their findings with decision makers. This process, based upon research and dialogue, seeks to ensure that young people’s participation is meaningful, sustainable and effective. In the context of an emerging partnership between the team and the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Research on Families and Relationships, this project focuses on young people’s experiences as researchers. Academics will support young researchers to reflect upon their experiences and to develop a video and a briefing paper for practitioners, policy makers and academics looking at the value and challenges of young people led research. With the ever-increasing interesting children and young people’s participation, these resources will provide a thoughtful and innovative contribution to developing policy and practice.
