The project extends previous collaboration between the partners to explore Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), such as blockchains, for agricultural development. Through a collective effort of academics, development partners, local authorities, businesses, financial institutions and farming groups our earlier projects explored the potential of Distributed Ledger Technologies, particularly Blockchains, to support socio-economic development in rural communities in the Caribbean. A series of concepts were proposed by stakeholders, and CariCrop was selected for initial study, which we proposed here for further development with funding from CIBC.
