Description
This project is funded by the Concordia University David O'Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise and is aimed at examining the Honey Bee Network in India that supports and spreads the dissemination of frugal innovations that contribute to sustainable practices in agriculture.
The aim of this project is to: a) bring together theories of practice and institutional work by highlighting the effort and stratagems that constitute ‘work’ on the part of institutional actors; and b) contribute to a better understanding to sustainability as grounded in local practices and innovation. In understanding local innovation, we also examine its various forms, for example frugal innovations and funded innovations, and the difference in their translation and adoption to a wider audience.
This project is the first part of a longer research program that builds on the idea of building and strengthening governance mechanisms around the sustainable and innovative management of resources by communities that are closest to them.
