Description
STEP’s new Digital Rapid Assessment Guide (D-RaG) supports teachers to carry out quick assessments of nomadic children and young people’s ability levels. The three assessment resources are based on the outcomes and benchmarks in numeracy, reading and writing and they have been designed to be accessible and culturally relevant to nomadic communities. Each assessment resource is accompanied by a set of teacher notes. The D-RaG is particularly useful when Gypsy/Traveller pupils return after periods of travelling. Although these are initial assessment priorities, the activities are also introduced as part of an interactive and integrated learning context that recognises a child’s broader strengths and cultural interests.
