Engineering and understanding solid state proton migration and transfer

Project Details

Layman's description

A combined synthetic and theoretical project to rationalise, predict and understand the phenomenon of proton migration and transfer in solid state systems

Key findings

We studied a range of compounds and co-crystals in this work, using a combination of experimental methods and theoretical modelling tools - and in some instances learned just how difficult this work can be! What emerged was a mechanistic understanding of the phenomenon of the movement of protons in molecular materials. The results are summarised in the 12 research papers highlighted below
