Global Christians in Edinburgh

Project Details

Description

CAHSS Knowledge Exchange and Impact Grant

Layman's description

This project highlights the global diversity of Christianity within Edinburgh and the collaborative efforts expressed across communities. In a time of historic decline in many mainstream Edinburgh churches, the city has witnessed the growth of Christianity through African, Asian, and Latin American migrants, often with the creation of new (sub)congregations. The project hopes to impact a wide range of church leaders in and around Edinburgh through a workshop, highlighting how migratory Christian communities were formed and, in contrast with common perception, underscore ways these groups have collaborated with other Christian communities and with civil society. The project has not singled out a non-academic partner because it is better served through interactions with a significant number of churches/organisations.
