Project Details
Description
Performance ensemble formed to explore free and structured improvisation, particularly works by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Christian Wolff, and new works by members of the ensemble.
Key findings
This is an ongoing practical forum for experimenting with the use of live electronics and acoustic instruments. I am building versions of electronic devices used by Stockhausen's ensemble in the 1960s, and by the Cambridge based ensemble - Intermodulation. Our ensemble allows me to test the efficacy of these devices and to test the affordances offered by them, and thus their agency in and contribution to performance practice.
