Project Details
Description
Since 2010, I have been studying big data astrophysics in terms of the composition of collaborative groups, data practices and well-being. This new project builds on that foundation through focusing specifically on the Ruben Observatory community and their Legacy Survey of Space & Time (LSST). Theoretically, Intersectionality, meshworks and acknowledging the strategies of minoritized scientists are key. Methodologically, qualitative interviews will be done with LSST scientists with a particular focus on their ground-breaking Catalyst program for postdoctoral fellows.
Layman's description
This project is the newest phase of a study of the LSST collaboration in terms of their demographics, life-work balance, mentoring and issues connected to the continued delay of the Ruben Observatory. Funded by the LSST Discovery Alliance.
