Mining new enzymes in the rumen for biomass processing and chiral synthesis

Project Details

Key findings

We have sequenced and assembled almost 300Gbases of sequence from 12 samples and predicted almost 3.8 million proteins, the vast majority of which are novel.
We have assigned domains to these proteins and provided information to our collaborators, leading to over 40 possible novel beta glucosidase candidates.
We have written and released a database system to manage the data: http://www.ark-genomics.org/bioinformatics/meta4
