Project Details
Description
We recently used next generation sequencing technology to sequence half a megabase of DNA, covering the TRAX/DISC locus in approximately 1500 individuals. After quality control, all variants with a minor allele frequency (MAF)
Layman's description
Variation in DNA sequences alter an individuals risk of developing mental illness. This project aims to identify more of the variation within and surrounding a set of genes implicated in mental illness. These genes are thought to be functionally related through their interaction with the schizophrenia-risk gene DISC1, study of which is already yielding biological insight into these illnesses.
