Project Details
Description
This project addresses vulnerable communities and the energy transition, with a specific emphasis on community-based solutions as a way to mitigate risk and increase sustainability. The project will leverage the environmental humanities, computing and sustainability, environmental justice, design, [other fields?] and related fields to work with vulnerable populations to historicize, explore, and unpack the environmental, economic, and political, and co-design solutions that reduce the impact of energy inequities. The project includes researchers from Canada, Scotland, South Africa, and the US, and case studies from different contexts.
The project addresses two of the 8 risks listed in the call, specifically: 3. Risks associated with critical physical infrastructure, networks and services and 4. Risks to living standards, using SDG#7 (equitable access to energy) as a key objective.
