Project Details
Description
This project will be informed by the findings of a recently completed report, “Scottish Muslims in Numbers: Understanding Scotland’s Muslim population using the 2011 national census” (2016) and feed into ongoing research into Muslims and Muslim community institutions in Scotland.
The report highlights a number of key demographic trends within Scotland’s Muslim communities which have significant implications for government policy, public sector provision and Muslim community organisations.
This project aims to encourage a national conversation concerning the present and future needs of Scotland’s rapidly growing Muslim population. The project will target three specific audiences:
1) The general public, through the production of a three-minute animated infographic film to be widely circulated online;
2) Policy-makers and practitioners working in relevant public sector organisations (civil service, local authorities, health, education, policing);
3) Mosque communities (administrations and congregations).
