Programme of research analysing the role of online social networks for health communication and crowdsourcing and the use of social media data and analytics to understand health and disease.

A series of studies analysing the different ways in which people are using social media to communicate about health, share relevant information, connect with one another and seek support. This research also looks at how the data shared in these open social networks can be used to understand patterns of health and illness, emerging disease threats or public sentiment about health services and policies.
