Super-D2B-A high resolution and intensity neutron powder diffractometer

Project Details

Key findings

The main aim was an upgrade of the high resolution neutron powder diffractometer D2B at the ILL neutron facility. This was successfully carried out, mainly through installation of a large position sensitive detector. Test experiments on a wide variety of materials were done to check the new configuration and resulted in many publications. A highlight was the discovery of large magnetoresistances associated with magnetic order in ruthenium copper oxide superconductors.
