Project Details

Description

The Happy Hypocrite is a live research project, which takes the form of a semi-annual, interdisciplinary publication, edited by Maria Fusco, with an international editorial advisory board.

The Happy Hypocrite has built a new constituency for contemporary art writing, by providing a greatly needed international forum for new writing and research-based text projects. Artists, writers and theorists collaborate in each publication to express experimental ideas that might not otherwise be realised.

Informed by a lineage of modern experimental and avant-garde magazines such as: Bananas, Documents, The Fox, Merlin and Tracks, The Happy Hypocrite is published by Book Works (London), commissioning fifteen new works per issue, drawn from open submission and invited work, and themed around a distinct writing methodology.

The journal is published by Book Works (London) and funded by Arts Council England.
