  • O'Regan, Noel (Principal Investigator)

Project Details

Music sub-project contained with the larger project of the same name. It's aims were the recording of a CD of music from the Wode Psalter and the production of three concerts performing music from the Psalter.

Layman's description

This project formed part of a larger inter-disciplinary project to organise an exhibition of the eight surviving partbooks which made up the Wode Psalter. This music-based part of the project involved the recording of a CD of representative music from the Wode Psalter and the production of three concerts performing music from the Psalter.

Key findings

The CD was produced by the Dunedin Consort and Fretwork, and was launched on in August 2011 in connection with the Exhibition which was the major output of the overall project. Selected tracks were used as background music during the exhibition and were also loaded onto an I-phone App. which was available during the exhibition and continues to be accessible for download. Concerts were organised in the Kirk of the Holy Rude, Stirling on 28 November 2010, in St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh on 20 August 2011 and in St. Machar's Cathedral, Aberdeen on 8 October 2011. Research carried out in connection with the project informed the editing of the music for these performances and recording, as well as the choice of music and the way in which it was performed. An edition of Radio 3's Early Music Show was recorded in the exhibition space with the Co-Investigator contributing and was broadcast on 8 October 2011. A one-day conference was organised with participants from across the UK and a couple of choral workshops was organised for interested participants in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
