1-20 micron observations of active galaxies

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract / Description of output

Highlights of a continuing IR study of about 60 galactic nuclei of many different kinds are discussed. Normal nuclei, starburst nuclei and type 1 Seyferts have well defined IR spectral shapes, whereas type 2 Seyferts seem to be a mixture of things. Three broad line radio galaxies were observed to have very steep power law continua throughout 0.3-20 microns, raising problems with photoionization models.
