Abstract

306: Dawn is a piece of music theatre with words by Oliver Emanuel and music by Gareth Williams, commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland, 14 18 Now, Horse Cross Theatre, Perth, in association with the Red Note Ensemble.

The piece follows the story of 3 of the 306 British soldiers who were tried and executed for cowardice during WW1, and it is the first part of a trilogy which bears witness to this particular part of WW1 history, which has been largely overlooked.

306: Dawn was made specifically for premiere in a barn at Dalcrue Farm in Perth, Scotland.
