Abstract / Description of output

This paper describes the design and development of an innovative high school-level qualification in data science. The qualification has been available for 4 years; 1982 learners have completed the course to date across 30 educational institutions. We describe the structure of the course, it spedagogical principles, and initial feedback from teachers and learners.Based on our experiences as members of the qualification development team, we discuss the prerequisites to successful adoption by schools and colleges. We conclude with a set of recommendations for other educators who are designing similar qualifications in other school systems.
