Abstract

The overall aim of this project was to explore the knowledge and views of people with a learning disability, on dementia. Four focus groups were held each comprising of between 6 and 10 people with a learning disability. Results show that participants associated dementia with confusion, memory loss, physical deterioration and aggression. Notably, most associated dementia with being moved away from their «home». Recommendations were made for preparing and supporting people to live with others with dementia.
