    Abstract / Description of output

This report is part of SANH actions towards building the nitrogen policy arena for South Asia. It is specifically focused on the evaluation of policies, progress, and barriers across different scales within each of the eight countries. Our approach firstly looked at the regional scale. A joint publication by SACEP and SANH provides a regional overview of the nitrogen policy in South Asia (SACEP-SANH, 2021; Yang et al. 2022), and the South Asia case study forms part of a chapter in a global nitrogen assessment being prepared by the International Nitrogen Institute (INI). We also are reporting our results at the national scale. National-level reports have also been published for Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, and India, and another report is underway for Pakistan.
This report provides a necessary step to understanding the current nitrogen policy landscape for Afghanistan.
