Abstract
Based on a two year project with postgraduate students and local communities to provide sustainable design tools. The research proposes an alternative to joint academic/community workshops through the sequencing of participative exercises. The result is a planning toolkit of a range and ambition greater than would otherwise be expected allowing communities to properly reflect on speculative work completed in an academic environment, and to sift, edit and prioritise strategies that best work with local knowledge and experience.
