Abstract / Description of output

This chapter offers an analysis of some common themes that have emerged through the essays in the book and which seem likely to merit further research. Each of the essays were written in response to questions in relation to the constituent elements of the subject: education and religion. Although there is scope for further research regarding religion, it has become clear there is urgent need for greater interrogation of educational theory underpinning religious education. Without analysis of the educational underpinning of religious education, the significant contribution religion has to bring to education in the public sphere, seems likely to be missed.
