Abstract / Description of output
This paper looks anew at the visit made by Alexander Edward to England, the Low Countries and France in 1700-1701.
It looks particularly at the print culture associated with that vist and argues both that Edward's acquisitions, through his systematic and thorough approach, were the single most significant influx of such material into Scotland in this period. It also argues that Edward had privileged, if not unique, access to the collections of the royal gardener at Versailles.
