Abstract / Description of output
This conceptual framework paper puts forward a review of some of the critical dimensions of the integration of systemic and processual views of Open Innovation. In particular it establishes the links between the core elements of the networked process - systems, actors and their relationships. Then it turns to examine their touch points, in particular as they relate to management of R&D through intermediaries' supported organisational learning and integration of knowledge. In doing so, it brings together conceptual frameworks that govern the running of Living Labs with cyclical processes of innovation moments, both within the context of Multi-level Perspective on Geographically-bound Sectoral Systems of Innovation. In sum, this paper is advancing a view, that high-tech networked R&D processes can be described as management of innovation moments within loose Living Labs configurations of partners. This is termed as Open Engineering - combining organisational learning principles with Open Innovation management.
