Abstract

The success of haematopoietic (bone marrow or peripheral blood) stem cell transplantation (SCT) is compromised by pulmonary complications. We hypothesised that a proinflammatory alveolar microenvironment, reflected in alveolar macrophage (AM) cytokine production, would predispose to such complications.
