Abstract
In the past three years, a variety of documents have been developed outlining visions for plant science of differing geographical and scientific foci. This document is unique in the scope and scale of its recommendations, which provide an international vision for the next decade to inform scientists, funders and decision makers globally. In the development of this report, plant science researchers from ten different nations were invited to the Banbury Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in the United States to discuss their perspectives of current and future challenges in the plant sciences. Funding
for the meeting was provided by three national funding agencies coordinated through the International Steering Committee for Plant Genomics. The meeting participants are listed in Section X. The report was presented and discussed at six international conferences and meetings in 2009.
