Abstract
This chapter provides a brief introduction to the range of pathological conditions that may impact on the human skeleton, and important considerations for their recording and interpretation. In addition, it outlines types of antemortem trauma that may be identified in the analysis of human skeletal remains. Both skeletal pathology and antemortem trauma can be utilized in the identification of individuals alongside other aspects of the biological profile (e.g. age-at-death and sex), and in conjunction with antemortem records.
