Abstract / Description of output

A narrative history of architectural modernism in one chapter, organised as a series of historic episodes. The chapter stresses the transcultural, and transnational nature of architectural modernism, as well as the importance of its mediatisation in books and journals. The concluding episode provocatively locates the activity of the IKEA furniture store in this expanded history of modernism.
