Abstract
Lack of physical activity is a major challenge in the UK, and places substantial burden on the healthcare system. Conversely, participating in physical activity is known to promote physical, mental, and social wellbeing. This report was commissioned to highlight what is working to promote physical activity in Dumfries and Galloway. The report had three primary objectives: 1. To use existing evaluation findings to describe the spread and parity of physical activity promotion by geographical region, and age group and gender catered for; 2. To use existing evaluation findings to highlight the existing approaches in Dumfries and Galloway that are providing best return on investment; 3. To make recommendations for enhancing existing work, and evaluation and monitoring systems
