Other Details: The Solar Pavilion, artist Karen Forbes, was commissioned by Edinburgh Art Festival 2011.
The artwork was situated within Edinburgh's St Andrew Square and was be open to the public from the 4th August.
The Solar Pavilion drew time in light, creating a parallel line to the Melville Monument's circling shadow.
It is an architectural twinned system, moving continuously through the horizontal and vertical axii, driven by the sun.
This structure was an example of public art, but also acted as a dynamic space to showcase the latest in creativity
and innovation in Scottish and international art for the Edinburgh Festival.
In addition, 24 artists were commissioned to create a response to issues of site and context within their work
with reference to the Solar Pavilion and its location in a project entitled 'Solar'.
Their responses were shown on the web site and also were shown as a live performance in St Andrews Square
on the closing night of the Festival.
