Abstract
This article identifies a range of central industrial and representational trends within Scottish cinema in the years since 2000. It identifies and discusses a range of key films and filmmakers associated with two such trends: firstly, a collective turn towards collaborative working relationships between Scottish and Scandinavian filmmakers, and secondly, an increased interest on the part of Scottish filmmakers in questions of ethnic and racial diversity and conflict, whether manifested within Scotland's borders or without. In response to the contemporary films and filmmakers surveyed, the article also identifies current trends within Scottish film criticism and proposes the desirability of certain future developments within the field.
