Abstract
Differential cross-sections from (γ,πn) and (γ,πp) experiments on C are presented together with a microscopic model calculation. The comparison of experimental data with theory confirms that quasifree pion production is the dominant process for the (γ,πn) reaction. The comparison of (γ,πp) with (γ,πn) data shows the importance of final state interactions, first time to experimentally study the strength and the possible mechanisms involved in the final state interaction.
