Abstract

This paper presents the results of a longitudinal study of 28 Gaelic-medium and 57 Welsh-medium final year primary and first year secondary school pupils conducted in 2007 and 2008. The research investigated the impact of the move from primary to secondary school on aspects of pupils’ language relevant to language planning, for example their language use, their perceived linguistic abilities and their identification with the Celtic language.
