Abstract

This workshop, run by young people and staff from Young Edinburgh Action, will explore the realities of being a young researcher and of supporting young people led research. It will examine both why we do what we do and some of the ethical and methodological challenges of the work. The workshop will be participative and will include examples of Young Edinburgh Action’s successful projects. Young Edinburgh Action is a team of young people and adults who support the delivery of City of Edinburgh Council’syouth participation strategy. The team supports young people in Edinburgh to identify issues that they feel passionate about and to undertake an action research project on that topic leading to a dialogue between young people and adult decision makers. In the last year action research topics have included votes and 16 and political education, better sex education and gender inequality
