Abstract
Charlotte Brooks at LOOK, 1951-1971 was the first retrospective exhibition dedicated to the career of one of the most important American female photographers from the postwar era. Best known for her work at Look magazine between 1951 and 1971, Brooks’ output represents a significant contribution to the visual history of the United States at mid-century. With an introduction by Lisa Fischman, Ruth G. Shapiro '37 Director of the Davis Museum, the exhibition catalogue includes contributions by Beverly W. Brannan, Curator of Photography, in the Prints and Photographs Division at the Library of Congress, by esteemed photography historian and critic Vicki Goldberg, and by Feliz Smith, Class of 2017.
