Abstract / Description of output
A presentation about the life of Scottish outsider artist Angus Mcphee a Hebredean islander and weaver of grass artefacts including jackets, trousers, hats, boots vests and even a little cat. Angus spent the majority of his life interred in a psychiatric hospital in inverness, ripped from his island home in South Uist he became voluntary mute, refusing to communicate except by his use of his magical weavings as discovered by Joyce Laing OBE a Scottish champion of outsider art and a good friend of mine. Her collection is now held by Glasgow museums in their archives. The presentation has a clip of Joyce talking about her discovery as well as my own journeys to his homeland and conversations with his niece during my research.
