Collision with Distributed Objects

Research output: Working paper

Abstract

This short note is concerned with energy conserving methods for collision mechanisms, particularly in the case of
collisions of a mass with a distributed system such as a string or membrane. Section 1 is based, fundamentally, on a
paper by Chatziioannou and van Walstijn, in the Stockholm Musical Acoustics Conference, 2013; in it, the algorithm
is rewritten in a simplified Newtonian form. The other sections are extensions to the case of contact with distributed
systems such as strings and membranes.
