Abstract / Description of output

This chapter looks at the ways 20th century productions of Greek tragedy had helped to revise the general idea of the tragic. It looks, more specifically, at the interface between philosophical appropriations of tragedy and theatrical ones. It examines the ways this primarily 'modern' encounter with the tragic rehearses and revises the long-standing legacies of anti-theatricality.
