Abstract / Description of output

CONNECTIONS is an exhibition at the Royal Alberta Museum, Edmonton, Canada from 21 Nov 2024 - 22 June 2025. The exhibition presents a collection of artworks and scientific images that portrays aspects of neuroscience, brain diseases and mental health disorders, and their intersections with art and life. Included in the exhibition is an adapted version of the moving image installation 'Immobile Choreography' (2019), commissioned by Grampian Hospitals Art Trust (GHAT) in partnership with University of Aberdeen’s Bio Medical Physics department, in response to the IDentIFY research project, developing the Fast Field-Cycling Magnetic Resonance Imaging (FFC-MRI) medical scanner.

The CONNECTIONS exhibition collection was born from a desire to build links among the scientific community at the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI) at the University of Alberta, patients with neurological and mental health disorders and the community at large.

In this exhibition audiences discover the beautiful linkages that exist among our brain cells; weave together the threads of neuroscience research, clinical care, and recovery from brain diseases and mental health disorders; immersing audiences in the inspiring, healing power of art; and highlight the humanity in our connections.
