N2 - Dear Dr Merci,We are writing to advise you of the need for a corrigendum to our paper “The Rise and Rise of Fire Resistance”, published in the September 2020 issue of Fire Safety Journal (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.firesaf.2020.103188).We have discovered an important error in our paper, whereby we have inaccurately used and attributed a quote, when in fact this quote had been paraphrased - from Margaret Law (1981) - by Bisby in one of his earlier papers. This error concerns the Margaret Law (1981) quote in the first column of Page 8 of our 2020 paper. This quote should instead read as two quotes, both from Margaret Law (1981), as follows:“The standard temperature-time curve is different from the temperature-time exposure likely to be encountered in real fires which will depend on the amount and type of fire load, the ventilation, size and shape of the building and the activities of the fire brigade”;and “The loading and end conditions are not well defined."The thrust and meaning of the quotes is the same as in our published 2020 paper; however, the direct reference to Margaret Law (1981) in our original paper is incorrect and we would like to set the record straight.
