Abstract
The future is always better than the past – To mark the 60th anniversary of Cortex, we asked past and current editors to share an anecdote or a reflection concerning their work at Cortex. The outcome is this collection of intriguing reminiscences.
When Jordan Grafman and I took over the editorship of Cortex in 2001, the journal was published by Masson, the office of which was on the outskirts of Milan. Roberto Cubelli, managing editor of Cortex, and I met regularly with the nice personnel of the publishing house, and the climax of those meetings was sharing delicious Mediterranean food in a cosy pizzeria nearby. Unfortunately, the pizzeria was forced to close for tax evasion and money laundering. We should have taken this as an omen. Yet, Cortex is still kicking!
