Abstract

The COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted the lives of everyone including astronomers and astrophysicists. For astronomers and astrophysicists - our modern day skywatchers, staying at home meant switching their lives, which were normally rich with travel to conferences, to observatories for data collection, and simply to work for departmental meetings, team meetings and teaching, to having all of these occur on the Internet. Automated telescopes such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) were impacted by the Pandemic (Abdurro’uf et al. 2022), the Apache Point Site was shut down for nearly 2 months in 2020, but to compensate, atypically ran during the Northern Hemisphere summer months. Focusing on the ASTROMOVES interviews, I explore the many ways that the COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted the lives of astrophysicists, these are compared to other studies of COVID and astrophysicists. Finally, I reflect upon if these are different from other scientists and academics.
