Abstract
This chapter imagines AI-driven educational personalization through a lens of collective flourishing, shared stewardship and democratic accountability, drawing on Hayles’ concept of technosymbiosis. Through a scenario and micro-fiction focused on a technosymbiotic university, it develops and ‘feels into’ a future where responsible AI futures for education have friction and limits designed-in. Fiction helps imagine how such a future might be experienced and what its possibilities and vulnerabilities might be, crafting a path away from cruel optimism and towards more generative forms of thinking otherwise.
