Abstract / Description of output

This exhibition was a presentation of 9 artworks all constructed using cardboard from the standard A4 writing pads. Each work consists of two components; firstly small boxes with a frontal aperture 'hole punch' and secondly containment shelves. Both of these elements are made from the discarded writing pads. The work was a culmination of a body or work began in an earlier exhibition at the Center for the Understanding of the Built Environment (CUBE) Manchester which was supported by a £6000 Henry Moore grant. The exhibition at Dicksmith Gallery was purchased for the Saatchi Collection and included in their 2010/11 exhibition Newspeak-British Art Now (part 2 27th October -30th April 2011) which is documented both at http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/dean_hughes.htm and in the publication Newspeak British Art Now
