Abstract

My discussion focuses on a very long letter written by Katie Stuart, the married eldest daughter of Katie Findlay, Olive Schreiner‘s older sister. This concerns her mother‘s physical and mental health while living in an Institution in Pietermaritzburg, some 600km away from Pretoria, where the letter was posted in June 1898.
