Abstract
This document reports the results of research into appropriate digital formats for Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) digital question papers, for candidates who are blind or have severe sight loss to use in Scottish National Qualification examinations. The existing SQA Digital Question Papers are not optimised for visually impaired candidates who use screen reader facilities and software, and SQA adopts a bespoke procedure for providing digital papers in response to individual requests from schools. The research included technical tests, interviews with candidates and a survey of teachers of the visually impaired in Scotland. The report identifies suitable accessible digital formats for examination papers.
