Abstract / Description of output
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for communication between different corporate computer systems was expected to transform relationships between firms. However, this detailed study of three sectors of the UK publishing industry-the book trade; the magazine and newspaper trade; and newsprint supply to newspapers-found that EDI developed in a slow and incremental manner. This calls into question the radical visions of proponents of business network redesign.
