Abstract

Interactive software piece created in collaboration with software engineer Theo Burt, University of York. This software integrates the researcher's doctoral studies developed a Goldsmiths college, University of London, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and completed in 2011.

The platform presents a first-person experience, where both the creation and exploration of an interactive world, while using a 3D aural representation of space, is possible. This representation is divided into distinct nodes/ spaces that are visually accessible to the children in a grid like shape. These become potential cribs for the creation of distinct scenarios. Within this grid, the children are able to create new nodes/ spaces or move and reconfigure existing ones. Each is accessible for direct sound recording or to import created sounds elsewhere in the computational medium. To this feature, we added the possibility of exploring binaural features and manipulating reverb presets.

This piece is complete since 2011 however awaiting a final Free License publishing.
