Abstract / Description of output

Responding to the theme of the conference, this paper uses financial socialization as a theoretical lens through which to explore the impact of socialization contexts, relationships to socialization agents and socialization practices on emerging adults’ developing financial capability. The findings suggest that whilst parental socialization remains an enduring influence throughout emerging adulthood, it does not ensure effective financial capability development and there is also an increasing prevalence for potentially ill-informed self-directed financial socialization.
